Benevolent ethical climate and work self-efficacy. The mediation of intrinsic motivation and the moderation of affective commitment in the Colombian electricity sector

Abstract

The Colombian electricity sector is increasingly under pressure to operate in a responsible manner. In this sense, a benevolent ethical climate fits the expectations of all interested parties. Likewise, affective commitment, intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy are essential personal resources for organizational sustainability. This article aims to analyze the moderating effect of affective commitment and the mediator of intrinsic motivation regarding the relationship between benevolent ethical climate and work self-efficacy. A conditional, quantitative-correlational model is used. The sample is made up of 448 employees with university studies. A climate that is supported by feelings of friendship, common interest and social responsibility regulates emotions and drives them in a clear positive direction, which nurtures the affective person-organization identification and the most intimate motivation of the employee; Furthermore, it is a source that adjusts work self-efficacy. Promoting prosocial work contexts is a priority in Colombia since organizations, and especially public ones, cannot take their eyes off ethical processes and social needs.
