Gazdasági teljesítmény és látens cserearány-javulás a piacgazdasági átmenet idején Magyarországon

Abstract

A tanulmány új nézőponttal egészíti ki az 1980-as évek második felétől az 1990-es évek közepéig tartó időszak makrogazdasági folyamatainak az elemzését. Magyarázatot keres arra, hogyan tudta a piacgazdasági átmenet idején a magyar gazdaság a nemzetközi mezőnyben megőrizni relatív fejlettségi helyzetét annak ellenére, hogy a statisztikák a hazai termék jelentős csökkenését jelezték. Módszertani érvek és eseti példák alapján arra a következtetésre jut, hogy a rendkívül gyors átmenet során lényegesen javultak a magyar piacra kerülő termékek mikroszintű jellemzői, és ezt a minőségi többletet statisztikai eszközökkel lehetetlen volt számszerűsíteni. Minthogy a piacnyitás első szakaszában a minőségi többlet főleg az importtermékeket jellemezte, a folyamat hatásában hasonló volt a cserearány-javuláshoz; a termelés visszaesése ellenére emelkedett a belföldi felhasználás volumene. Ez azonban a hazai statisztikákban látens maradt, és csak utólag a nemzetközi összehasonlítás eredménye jelezte azt, hogy a forint vásárlóereje jóval kevésbé gyengült, mint az várható lett volna a hazai infláció ismeretében. A piacgazdasági átmenet idején a magyar tapasztalatokhoz hasonló mérési problémák minden bizonnyal a többi európai volt szocialista országban is léteztek. Ezek azonban - az összehasonlítható statisztikai idősorok hiánya miatt - kevésbé váltak szembetűnővé.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: E01, N14, P24.
