Bedeutung der Digitalisierung in der höheren Berufsbildung

Abstract

The digital transformation not only fundamentally changes different professions, but also has an impact on educational institutions and the development of curricula. The study at hand analyses the perceived impact of digital transformation on students and graduates of Swiss Colleges of Professional Education in business administration. We are particularly interested in how strongly the digital transformation affects every day work and which skills are most relevant when adapting to this transformation. The results show that the digital transformation has significantly changed the work of the graduates within a very short time. We also analyse how exactly this change manifests itself within their workspace, for example by looking at the technologies they apply. We see that the most important technologies are social media, customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource management (ERP). Furthermore, the digital transformation affects the skills required on the labour market. A detailed analysis shows that communication via modern media, the management of data storage and the use of tools for data analysis prove to be the most important.
