Shortcomings And Disparities In Smes’ Financing In The Eu- Prerequisite For The Capital Markets Union

Abstract

The European Union is facing disparities in terms of the capital markets of the Member States. This fragmentation is causing the poor functioning of the financial markets in question, particularly in what concerns business financing, and these problems have become more prominent in the context of the turbulence generated by the 2008 economic crisis. The need for timely implementation of the Capital Markets Union project is argued in the analysis from the perspective of the disparities and deficiencies regarding the financing of Small and Medium-Sized enterprises in the EU. The integration of the European Union's capital markets involves remediating structural problems that are deeply rooted in Community history and requires coordinated efforts by both European and national authorities.
