Abstract

The tourist's behaviour is reflected in the environment. For this reason, consumer behaviour is an essential factor. The research objective is to identify and evaluate Slovak tourists' attitudes towards sustainable and pro-environmental behaviour. Our questionnaire survey focused on different groups of people from the Slovak Republic. A questionnaire survey collected the data; the final sample comprised 280 respondents. We identified their attitudes through a 5-point Likert scale. In data processing, general methods and several statistical methods were used, such as the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pairwise Comparisons, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test, Bartlett's test, Factor analysis, logistic regression, and linear regression. We tested the hypotheses through parametric and non-parametric tests, which revealed the preferences and attitudes of Slovak tourists in various situations. The data were processed using the SPSS Statistics software. Based on the results, we bring exciting findings. The findings highlight the importance of sustainable practices in active tourism, identify psychological factors influencing tourists' behaviour, and provide nuanced insights into the determinants of pro-environmental behaviour among tourists, thereby informing strategies to foster responsible and environmentally conscious tourism behaviour.
