Factors influencing online transport drivers' job satisfaction in Indonesia

Abstract

This paper tries to understand the impact of perceived occupational health hazard, perceived job risk and perceived job insecurity on online transportation drivers' job satisfaction in Indonesia, and how people fear towards the COVID-19 pandemic moderates those impacts. This study uses a quantitative survey method by using questionnaires which were virtually distributed to 202 online transportation drivers in Indonesia. A non-probability sampling method in the form of convenience sampling was chosen to ensure that the criteria of respondents are in line with the ones that have been set by the authors. This study conducted the PLS-SEM method, and it was concluded that perceived occupational health hazard, perceived job risk and perceived job insecurity significantly affect the online transportation drivers' job satisfaction. Furthermore, people's fear towards the COVID-19 outbreak was found to significantly moderate the effect of perceived occupational health hazard, perceived job risk and perceived job insecurity towards job satisfaction.
