Abstract

Warpage is one of the defects in the injection-moulded housing unit used in the hydraulic brake system. It is a dimensional distortion present in a moulded product after it is ejected from the mould at the end of the injection moulding process. Literature review and discussion with experts were used to identify the critical factors which are responsible for the warpage defect of housing used in the hydraulic braking system. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to analyse and ranked the critical factors for warpage defect. The results can act as a benchmark during the injection moulding process for the tactful handling of critical factors to reduce the warpage. Also, it is inferred from the results, that pressure is the highest-ranked critical factors followed by geometry, temperature and time respectively. A total of 22 critical factors were identified using literature review and by discussing with industrial experts.
