The concept of ergonomic evaluation for industrial building spaces

Abstract

Continuously providing world class products to the customers requires state of the art industrial facilities and some of the brightest minds in the world. The employees and the industrial setups are the most valuable assets of any industry. The paper discusses a concept model for evaluation of industrial building spaces which would safeguard the employees with safety and healthy working environment as well as contribute towards improving the efficiency and productivity of work. Significant ergonomic factors like illumination, acoustics, thermal, vibration and utility are discussed to be key contributors to the evaluation methodology. Some acceptable and healthy ranges of these factors and how they can be used to evaluate an industrial space are discussed. How requirement-based evaluation is more accurate and precise is also covered in this paper.
