Prevalent general and preventive maintenance practices in Indian process industry

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of general and preventive maintenance practices in the process industries of India. Data for the analysis was collected through a structured questionnaire from the reputed process industries of India. Statistical techniques cluster analysis and one-way ANOVA were used to investigate the maintenance scenario in the Indian process industry. The study highlighted the status of important practices related to the general maintenance and preventive maintenance (PM) in the process industry and emphasised on strengthening of maintenance activities in Indian Process industry especially in the changing needs of the Industry 4.0.
