Abstract

The current study examined the effect of compensation system in the prediction of employee job satisfaction within the public-sector of Jordan through using the job-descriptive-index (JDI). Data was collected through questionnaire across (314) respondents. Structural-equation-modelling applied and following the completion of the analysis, direct-monetary compensation was found to be partially related to JDI dimensions, whilst, in contrary to expectations indirect-monetary compensation were seen to have no role in achieving job satisfaction, further, non-monetary compensation significantly influenced JDI dimensions of satisfaction, in addition to that, demographic characteristics were found to be significant in affecting job satisfaction. Such results indicate an issue with the provided compensation system that need to be addressed by the public-sector administrative. Further works need to be carried out in order to explore how provided compensation could be effective booster for employee satisfaction especially in the context of Jordan.
