Abstract

Production planning and control system plays an imperative part in a manufacturing organisation. It involves the determination of best way of attaining the estimated demand of a product. But, the production planning system stage of production system life cycle (PSLC) is affected by a number of critical elements known as quality enabled factors (QEFs). QEFs are those elements or parameters whose consideration in the decision making will enhance the quality of decisions made in this stage. So, the main objective of this paper is to identify and analyse the QEFs of production planning system stage of PSLC. In view of this, various QEFs are identified through the extensive literature analysis and discussion with experts. Then, questionnaire-based survey is utilised for the validation of identified QEFs. Afterwards, interpretive structural modelling (ISM) approach is applied for analysing the relationship among the identified QEFs. At last, matriced impacts croises multiplication appliqueeaun classement (MICMAC) analysis is used to categorise the QEFs according to their driving and dependence power.
