Abstract

Experiencing the development of decades, the Taiwanese manufacturing industry has gained an important role in the worldwide supply chain. However, in the face of the changes of technology and intensive competition within the landscape, the Taiwanese manufacturers have to make a breakthrough by innovative ways. Intellectual Capital (IC) plays an important role when the Taiwanese manufacturing industry faces the challenges. Companies need to manage their strategic resources and knowledge through systematic thinking and implementation. Through a two-stage survey, this study has been able to identify eight IC factors as a measuring model in exploring the IC profiles of ten Taiwan manufacture industries. It indicates that the stronger IC in the Taiwanese manufacturing industry include business networking, productivity and quality, Information Technology (IT) applications, strategies and decisions and customer relationships, while the weaker IC include Reseach and Development (R&D), human resource and innovation and creativity.
