Abstract

Reconfigurable systems have the capacity and functionality in order to meet new objectives and function effectively in changing operating conditions and capable to deliver value in dynamic market conditions. Reconfigurable system is designed to maintain a high level of performance by reconfiguration to meet the multiple function requirements. Selection of system configuration along with machine type and its specifications is required for effective and efficient production and their arrangement in the most preferred configuration has dramatic effects on the performance of the manufacturing system. In this work, a configuration selection problem was considered to determine the optimal configuration with respect to the set of performance criteria. Due to simultaneous consideration of several criteria in the problem, entropy-based analytical hierarchy process was adopted for the analysis. To overcome the subjectivity in the decision maker's judgment, the results were analysed for sensitivity. The sensitivity analysis confirmed that the results are robust.
