Abstract

This paper focuses on the survival and growth of business in the long term. It deals with both the tangible aspect as well as the intangibles of business. Whereas the long term and the tangibles require fulfilling the continuous need to enhance material values for business, the short term and intangibles require cultivation of certain core values in business. The issues of sustainability in business, on one hand, explores the possibility of earning continuous interest and active support in the endeavour of the firm towards enhancing the material value while keeping to the social, economic, environmental and other relevant commitments of doing business. This paper is unique in its approach to marry the short term with the long term and at the same time to combine the concerns of the short term with the long term in one place. The concerns for maximising the worth of the tangibles whilst keeping the values of the intangibles very high, has been another special feature of this paper.
