Abstract

This article presents a new model for workplace learning based on an extensive literature search. The new model focuses on organisational variables that cause workplace learning, and that can be influenced by actions of management. The model has been applied in a case study in an organisation (a Dutch water board). Findings show that with the new model of workplace learning a rich picture of workplace learning can be constructed. Moreover, this picture enables management to improve workplace learning systematically with planned interventions.
