Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of HRM policies and psychological contract on organisational performance. The study is based on a national sample of 177 organisations from the private and public sectors in Greece, and on data obtained from 912 employees. The statistical method employed is structural equation modelling. The findings of the study suggest that employee promises partially mediate the relationship between HRM policies and organisational performance, and fully mediate the relationship between employer promises and organisational performance. Furthermore, it suggests that the impact of employer promises on organisational performance is much greater than that impact of HRM policies.
