Abstract

The central theme of this paper revolves around to understand the reasons behind students' absenteeism. In order to understand the reasons, a questionnaire was intrinsically designed with the help of previous researches conducted on this theme and through discussion with the students so that all possible reasons could be captured. Data were collected through an online survey on reasons behind student absenteeism and analysis was done using SPSS software. The whole idea of this paper is to present an overview of the reason behind student absenteeism and to suggest ways to cope up with this issue. The results of the paper would be helpful for the educators not only in designing lecture plans and classroom activities, but also the syllabus so that the problem of student absenteeism could be reduced, if not completely eradicate because of some unavoidable reasons.
