Inclusion in the primary education: perspective of a student with autism spectrum disorder

Abstract

The present study poses the research question: 'Inclusion in the primary school - perspective of a student with autism spectrum disorder'. This article aims to analyse the perspective of a student with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), associated with other difficulties, integrated into a primaryschool class, in relation to spaces, school routines, colleagues, teachers, assistants, rules, curriculum, disciplines, contents, language, and a wide diversity of stimuli and tensions. For this purpose, a case study was developed with a student with ASD to provide information related to the ability of the student to respond and overcome the daily routines of school life, differentiated and appropriate to his peculiarities. It is intended to bring to light the tension that is established between the guarantee of inclusion in counterpoint to the feeling of belonging to a group where teachings and learning are developed.
