Abstract

The objective of the research was to diagnose the organizational culture elements that support or restrict the implementation of a coaching and technical assistance program for Irrigation District users in Sonora, México. The importance of the work focuses on the need for actions to promote a positive change in collective consciousness of irrigation users on rational use of water, allowing improved irrigation efficiency at farm level. An adaptation of organizational culture-attitude towards change model with coaching efficacy elements was performed and a diagnostic tool was built. In general, positive conditions for the intervention implementation were found, where leaders are not an obstructive factor in realization of new projects. There is confidence in actions of technical assistance and coaching for awareness on the use and handling of irrigation water; low participatory inclusion characteristics were observed in irrigation users in establishing organizational objectives. Finally general adjustments were proposed to coaching-technical assistance program, in order to reduce the constraints to its efficient implementation.
