Abstract

The National System of Technological Institutes does not have a basic system of performance and quality indicators. So, in this paper a proposal for a system of indicators in technological higher education is presented. The indicators used in higher education in Europe, United States, Latin America and Mexico were reviewed. In Europe and the United States we analyzed comparative studies between the highest ranked institutions of higher education. They used 192 performance indicators. In Latin America 40 indicators have been used, in Mexico The National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES) proposed 1478 indicators and National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) proposed 50 indicators to measure the performance of its schools. In this paper, we propose a set of 61 performance and quality indicators for both internal and external comparisons. These indicators were developed to evaluate the strategic processes of substantive activities (academic, public relations, continuous education, planning, resource management and quality in education) carried out in theTechnological System
