Abstract

Adam Smith gilt zwar zu Recht als der Begr³nder der modernen Volkswirtschaftslehre, aber die anthropologische Fundierung seines Vorgehens steht, wie ausf³hrlich gezeigt wird, im Gegensatz zu dem Versuch heutiger Íkonomen, aus dem Menschenbild der Íkonomik, dem homo oeconomicus, alle Formen menschlichen Verhaltens in der privatsphõre, der Politik und der Gesellschaft herzuleiten. Smith hat vor dem Hintergrund einer teleologischen Weltsicht ein mehrdimensionales Menschenbild entwickelt, das neben der Dimension des homo oeconomicus die Dimensionen des homo biolgicus, des homo politicus und des homo relgiosus umfa▀t. Damit erscheint die Wirtschaftstheorie Smiths eingebettet in ethische, politische und religi÷se Kontexte. Smiths Welt- und Menschenbild wird mit seinen Implikationen vorgestellt und in seiner Bedeutung f³r die gegenwõrtge Theoriebildung in den Sozialwissenschaften gew³rdigt.
