Abstract

Le journalisme moderne et libre est né, historiquement, à peu près partout, comme un journalisme d’opinion. Les journaux ont fleuri, à toutes époques et dans tous les pays, dans des moments de fracture sociale, comme des étendards dans la bataille des idées, des moyens de combat pour la liberté, à tout le moins des outils du débat public. L’important, ce sont les idées. Peu à peu, la volonté de toucher le plus grand nombre a édulcoré les marques partisanes, les engagements, et conduit à promouvoir un journalisme d’information. Dans ce journalisme, l’essentiel, ce sont les faits. Avec l’avènement sans partage de la société marchande, et les techniques du marketing, nous sommes entrés dans la phase du journalisme de communication. L’important, ce sont les faits les plus acceptables, les faits vendables.
