Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of financial literacy education provided to vocational high school students. The limited number of applied studies on financial literacy at the high school level in the existing literature highlights the originality of this research. In this applied study conducted with 120 students enrolled in the Information Technologies department of a vocational high school in Ankara, a two-week training program (five days a week, 40 minutes per day) covering topics such as consumption, saving, investment, and personal budgeting was implemented. Financial literacy knowledge levels were measured before the training and two months after the training using the “Financial Literacy Attitude and Behavior Scale.†The mean score increased from 31.68 before the training to 41.11 after the training, and this difference was found to be statistically significant. The findings indicate that short-term financial literacy training significantly improves high school students’ knowledge levels.
