Modelo estructural de función de producción. Un estudio empírico de la innovación en el sector manufacturero español

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza la relación entre productividad, innovación e investigación a nivel de empresa utilizando una extensión del modelo estructural de función de producción de Crépon, Duguet y Mairesse (1998). El estudio se realiza para las empresas del sector manufacturero español con base en datos provenientes de la Encuesta sobre innovación tecnológica en las empresas, 2000 y 2004. Los resultados empíricos obtenidos señalan que el financiamiento público, el tamaño empresarial y la participación en los mercados internacionales desempeñan un papel importante en las decisiones de realizar actividades de investigación al interior de las manufactureras españolas. A su vez, aquellas que realizan un mayor esfuerzo en investigación interna es más probable que sean innovadoras de producto y/o de proceso. Finalmente, las estimaciones también señalan que la productividad media de estas empresas se correlaciona de forma positiva con la introducción de nuevos productos y/o procesos y la intensidad del capital físico utilizado.
