Abstract

The integration of digital tools into education marks a paradigm shift in the design and enactment of teaching and learning, fostering interactive, personalized, and critically engaged environments. Drawing on constructivist theories dialogic learning models and frameworks of critical digital pedagogy, this paper examines how digital technologies—such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), educational games, AR/VR environments, and collaborative platforms—enhance learner agency, creativity, and critical thinking. Uniquely, this study emphasizes inclusive, socially aware uses of technology, integrating principles from Universal Design for Learning and connecting global theories to practical applications in Greek secondary education. While highlighting the pedagogical benefits of digital tools, this study also addresses critical challenges related to digital inequalities, cognitive overload, and ethical concerns regarding data privacy and commercialization. These dimensions provide a reflective and justice-oriented approach to digital integration in education. Methodologically, this study associates a theoretical analysis with illustrative case examples to investigate how digital tools contribute to equity, engagement, and educational transformation. The findings suggest that when purposefully implemented, technology-supported pedagogies bridge formal and informal learning, encourage self-regulation, and cultivate reflective, multimodal learner experiences. This paper concludes by proposing actionable strategies for educators seeking to adopt a holistic and context-sensitive approach to digital integration.
