Abstract

This work makes a recount on the ideological and economic heritage of 36 years of domination of neoliberalism in Mexico, as well as of the presence of exacerbated individualism, and the need to renew nationalism as a binding factor. All which becomes in a manufacturing sector dominated by transnational corporations with internal and external economic and political powers, and interests that do not necessarily match national ones; also, in a national entrepreneurship that avoids competition and takes refuge in sectors that produce goods and services that are not internationally tradable, in addition to a scientific and technological system disconnected from the production apparatus. All this makes it necessary to recover lost time through a more active role of the state in planning growth.
