Abstract

This study analysis substitution possibilities among factors of production and technical change in the Peruvian Manufacturing Industry. To explore the effects of prince variations on factors demand, a traslong model following Berndt and Wood (1975) is applied based on a cost function. The cost function is used to derive demand equations for capital, labor, energy and materials inputs, which are the used to establish substitution relationships, estimate price-elasticities of demand and test technical changes bias for each factor of production. The empirical results indicate that price variations have low effects on factors demand, low substitution possibilities among factors of production, and that technical change is capital saving but energy using.// Este estudio analiza las posibilidades de sustitución entre factores de producción y el cambio tecnológico en la industria manufacturera peruana.
