Abstract

La obra de Amartya Sen combina de un modo por completo original un conjunto de características que parecen incompatibles y que no se encuentran simultáneamente en los escritos de ningún otro economista: pertinencia, originalidad, rigor formal, análisis empírico, erudicción, enfoque multidisiplinario, profundidad, sentido del humor, claridad y compromiso social. Estas diez cualidades pueden apreciarse en el libro editado por José Casas Pardo, que incluye veinte trabajos publicados con anterioridad por Sen, un estudio introductorio del editor, un ensayo del rector de la Universidad sobre la vida y obra de Sen, una conferencia inédita de Sen acerca de un tema sumamente actual e importante(los códigos de comportamiento, con referencias a la corrupción y el caso japonés) y una bibliografía de diez páginas correspondiente a libros y artículos escritos por el autor, agrupados por temas...
