Abstract

Un reciente artículo aparecido en la revista The economist, argumentando, como parece hacerlo con cierta frecuencia la prensa internacional, las noticias sobre los descubrimientos de petróleo en México y las posibles magnitudes de las reservas, se refería a éstas como una especie de "bendicion a medias" (mixed blessing). Obviamente, sin embargo, es preferible una bendición a medias que ninguna en lo absoluto. Pero, sea como sea, el hecho es que en México gana crecientemente en aceptación la tesis expuesta por el Presidente de la República de que el petróleo constituye la última oportunidad para México para resolver buena parte de los problemas a que se enfrenta en su desarrollo económico y social...
