Abstract

En los años 1956-1958, Albert O. Hirschman estaba en la Universidad de Yale(New Haven) en calidad de profesor investigador visitante cuando escribió La estrategía del desarrollo económico. Durante mucho tiempo, cuando le preguntaban cómo llegó a las ideas contenidas en ese libro, contestaba que había viajado a Colombia sin saber ni haber leído nada acerca de la economía del desarrollo, lo que resultó ser una ventaja porque le permitió observar la realidad sin prejuicios. De regreso, al hojear la bibliografía en la materia se percató de que su experiencia de consejero gubernamental y consultor privado lo había llevado a formarse un punto de vista personal, distinto del común y corriente...
