Algunas implicaciones de los juegos de política para las economías de alta inflación

Abstract

Introducción. Avances recientes en la aplicación de la teoría de los juegos a la macroeconomía pueden iluminar la naturaleza del proceso inflacionario en las economías de alta inflación, así como las dificultades que en ese ambiente afrontan las políticas de estabilización. Entendemos por "economías de alta inflación a los países llamados de inflación cronica, donde ésta parece tener vida propia independientemente del estado del déficit fiscal. En estas economías, como la del Brasil o la de Israel antes de 1985, se creía generalmente que la inflación estaba muy por encima del nivel minimo requerido por las consideraciones del señoraje. (En efecto, el aumento de la inflación de largo plazo, tanto en el Brasil como en Israel, no tenía ninguna relación con el señoraje.)...
