Abstract

No es indispensable construir complicados modelos teóricos para hacer un buen análisis económico. La prueba el libro recientemente publicado por Enrique Pérez López objeto de esta reseña. A pesar de la ya considerable bibliografía sobre el tema es mucho aún lo que debe investigarse sobre las causas y las consecuencias de la llamada "nacionalización" bancaria. Son muy numerosas las preguntas sobre el tema que están en espera de una investigación objetiva, profunda y convincente; por ello es grato recibir un trabajo tan serio y acucioso como el realizado por Pérez López. Cabe en particular destacar la cuidadosa recopilación de estadísticas preparadas para este libro. El autor ha organizado su trabajo en cuatro partes. En la primera explica "cómo era la banca que se expropió". A continuación presenta un análisis del desenvolvimiento de la economía entre 1977 y 1982, y de las políticas económicas que se aplicaron en el periodo. Luego examina lo ocurrido en el frente económico durante el último trimestre de ese sexenio, para terminar indagando las causas y los efectos económicos de la inflación...
