Abstract

En el número 214 de el Trimestre Económico, Olga Ester Torres R. publicó una reseña de mi libro La economía en Cuba socialista. Primero quiero agradecerle a la autora la atención que dedicó a mi trabajo: nueve páginas impresas, ciertamente la reseña más larga entre unas 35 publicadas sobre este libro en todo el mundo. Segundo, debo anotar que poquísimas reseñas de este libro han sido publicadas en América Latina y que considero de especial importancia que ésta haya aparecido en el Trimestre Económico, la revista económica de más larga historia y mayor prestigio en la región. Tercero, considero que la reseña de Torres es de carácter académico, que respeta ideas divergentes de las suyas, y que plantea aspectos importantes de mi trabajo, varios de los cuales han sido objeto de debates acalorados y no siempre respetuosos. Por todo ello es que he escrito esta respuesta que espero aclare tanto algunas de mis posiciones así como varios aspectos de la crítica en los que difiero..
