La economía venezolana. Problemas y perspectivas

Abstract

I. Introducción. La historia económica reciente de Venezuela ha estado marcada por tres hitos, referidos todos ellos a cambios violentos en el precio de su principal recurso de exportación: el petróleo. En noviembre de 1973, después del embargo petrolero árabe, los precios mundiales del crudo se cuadruplicaron. para Venezuela tal alza significó un incremento de 50% en el precio promedio de su "paquete" de exportación entre 1973-1972 y más de 180% entre 1974-1973. Seis años más tarde la revolución shiita provocó no sólo la caída del Sha de Irán sino también un nuevo aumento espectacular en los precios del petróleo, que esta vez se triplicaron respecto a 1978. Para Venezuela esta nueva alza significó un incremento del precio promedio de su "paquete" de exportación de casi 50% entre 1979-1978 y de 50% adicional entre 1980-1979...
