Science, technology and innovation (STI) is still on of the most important area through which a region or a country may enhance its competitiveness and hence its welfare. Taking into account this arena, the author offers us the examples developments in the European Research Area (ERA), the Nordic cooperation, and the increasing cooperation in South-East Asia through ASEAN.
