Abstract

The Antitrust policy, an essentially economic subject, lives on Economy, and its perspective is fundamental in order to define situations, to quantify effects, to guide and to analyze the cases that are subject of study by the Antitrust authorities. This article examines, first of all, the relationships between competence and economy within the schools of high outstanding thoughts, the classic paradigm, the neoclassic school and the Austrian school. Then, some results of the economic analyses are exposed to the definition and to the orientation of the Antitrust policy. Finally, some reflections are given about the application of different economic concepts and analysis techniques to case studies, a field where interesting contributions are made lately.
