Abstract

The competition policy is an instrument to guarantee the optimum assignment of resources to benefit both enterprises and consumers. Its acts as a factor of economic development, by forbidding conducts that increase the prices and stop innovation, affects negatively upon the quality-price relation of a product using an abusive exploitation or prevent new competitors to enter into a determined market by means of exclusion practices. In local markets, the effects of these anti-competitive practices usually harm small and medium enterprises that have to invoke the antitrust laws to defend its interests. The mission of competition authorities is to make a foreseeable and comprehensible application of this law. 40 Ekonomiaz N.o 61, 1.er Cuatrimestre, 2006.
