Abstract

The continuous development in the international literature of external costs over recent decades has contributed to pose the subject in a phase of significant maturity. This article aims at estimating the external costs of transport in the Basque Country over the year 2000 based on the latest advances in the state of the art. Nevertheless, the final objective is not to offer a definitive solution but encourage public institutions to incorporate the evaluation of externalities as an effective tool for transport policy.
