Abstract

Spain has been an attractive country for the inflows of foreign direct investments, mainly after her incorporation in the European Union. However, the current enlargment of the European Union has led to the development of new competitors that may endanger her position as one of the main receivers of foreign investments. To value the degree of competition that those economies can exert on the Spanish capacity to attract foreign direct investments we present a synthetic index that illustrate with higher accuracy the attractiveness of each economy for foreign investors.
