Abstract

This article covers the main data gathered in a survey which is currently being carried out by a team of researchers from ESTE-Deusto University on the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. In particular, structural and behavioural factors which determina such competitiveness (size, productiva specialization, labour costs, R+D activities and financial behaviour) are studied, together with certain variables which allow us to analyze the evolution of Basque corporate competitiveness in the manufacturing sector (market share, GAV growth and profitability). All these matters are anawed comparing the situation and evolution of the manufacturing industry in the Basque Autonomous Community with those from other territorial entities (especially Spain and the other EC countries).
