Abstract

Over the last ten years the banking sector has had to undergo numerous and important changes all over the worid. The general liberalization of their respectiva set of rules and regulations and the globalization of financiar activity have been the main impulses of such changes. This new scene is determining a growing difference between results obtained by properly-managed entities and others which have followed mistaken strategies. In such a context, banks are directing their activities towards the type of business they know best, in the certainty that only if they can generate value for the costumer, will they ultimately be able to generate benefits for the shareolder.
