Abstract

This work reflects over the current position of the Spanish economy. This has suffered a shift in its positive path initiated in 1985 to change into a stagnant economy with some recessive indicators. A permanent characteristic of this development has been the scarcity of nacional savings. This scarcity has required the calling of foreign savings to feed the needs of the growing consumption and investment demands. As this reliance on capital from abroad has some natural limits, the steady growth of the Spanish economy will only be reached by means of the promotion of domestic saving.
