Abstract

This article has three main objectives: 1) To compare the areas where research is concentrated in Spain, to a large extent, supported by the public sector, and the areas where there is greater demand for foreign technology. 2) To analyze the technological content of the Spanish industrial sectors, distinguishing between domestic technology, measured by R expenditure, and imported technology, measured by R in the importing of goods and payments for licences and technical assistance. 3) To make an analysis (Delphi) in order to obtain a taxonomy of technological areas based on the relation between future demand for knowledge and research efforts in that area.
