Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between Autonomy and Economy and defines a general framework that explains the exercise of the economic competences. The tenseness between the unity of the general arrangement of the Economy and the economic Autonomy has centred the attention of the Constitucional Court (Tribunal Constitucional). Many tasks of this High Court have dealt with the definitions about the titularity of the competences, unity of the market, and subsidios, with the purpose of setting bounds to the autonomic competence scope. It seems, in any case, that at present, this stage of confrontation should be overcome and, in the future, the participation of Autonomous Communities in the definition of the economic policy should be emphasized.
