Author

Listed:
  • Rodolfo Hoffmann

Abstract

This piece tries inconsistencies in the mainstream view that in 1987 there wasa significant improvement in workers’ wages. Using data from PNAD and considering thereal variation of the minimum wage we show that depending on the deflator, inequality andpoverty could be either higher or lower in 1987 than in 1985. JEL Classification: J31; I32.
