Abstract

uanta desigualdade racial existe no mercado de trabalho brasileiro? Qual foi o impacto das últimas transformações nas relações de trabalho? Podemos comparar a situação brasileira com outros países? Hoje, essas perguntas não têm uma resposta objetiva. Isto se deve, principalmente, à ausência de medidas que nos permitam fazer comparações de longo prazo e regionais de diferentes situações de desigualdades raciais. Nossa proposta é fornecer novos indicadores para avaliar as desigualdades raciais na estrutura ocupacional e de renda no Brasil. Nossos resultados mostram que as lacunas entre brancos e não-brancos aumentaram desde os anos 80. Eles nos permitem afirmar, além disso, que as desigualdades raciais são hoje piores no Brasil do que nos países que adotaram leis de ação afirmativa para combater a discriminação.
