Abstract

This article aims to present an alternative interpretation of the logic of the IIPND’s conception and implementation. It uses the contribution of Weber and other authorsthat developed the concept of patrimonialism to better understand the way Brazilian Stateconducted that project. It emphasizes that the plan was not guided exclusively by an economiclogic but also by political reasons. JEL Classification: N16; O21.
