Abstract

Reproduced here is a 1988 letter by Deirdre (then Donald) McCloskey, which responds to a letter she had received from the President of the Pennsylvania State University. The initial letter presumes to prevail upon McCloskey regarding some words in McCloskey’s microeconomics textbook The Applied Theory of Price, second ed. (1985). The initial letter principally concerns words appearing on page 451, “assuming that blacks and whites are identical except for color.”
