Abstract

On this work an incidence analysis is presented through a partial equilibrium model, where it is possible to see how gasoline taxes in Mexico present a major impact on the higher income households due to the higher consumption and the low price elasticity they have (-0.283). On the other hand, if the income redistribution is taken into account, the lower income households become the favored due to the lower gasoline consumption and higher reaction to the price increments. Therefore, with the resources redistribution shows that richer households and the productive sector transfer resources to the low income households, bringing with this more benefits to the society
