Abstract

The effect of ammonium molybdate on anaerobic digestion was studied. The effect on anaerobic biomethanation and its significance for optimum biogas production was also discussed in this paper. A retention period of 49 days in a small-batch digester was used. Addition of ammonium molybdate was made at appropriate concentration. It was found that ammonium molybdate acts as a microbial activator in the process of methanogenesis, and thus improves the volume of biogas as well as the percentage of methane generated. Details of the experimental results have been cited in this paper.
